2018 Covington Student Art Show
The Covington Arts Commission in conjunction with the City of Covington was proud to present the 13th Annual Student Art Show!
March is designated as Youth Art Month. The Covington Arts Commission promotes and highlights this event by showcasing young artists from local area schools.
In 2018, there were 732 pieces of artwork featured in 24 business locations in Covington. These businesses offered their spaces as “galleries” for the artworks. The Covington Arts Commission coordinates the effort that includes students, teachers, parents, businesses, and the City to bring attention to arts in schools, and the amazing amount of young talent in our community.
In February, students from kindergarten through high school submitted their works through their teachers, art docent coordinators and PTSA. The event has grown and taken shape with the combined effort of these groups and volunteers who carefully organize and hang the art.
Many businesses who generously offered “gallery” space shared that customers and visitors were thrilled to have such a visual celebration of the artistic talents of the young people in our community. The city is definitely more colorful during the month of March and the show makes it more fun to linger at the “galleries”.
This year, artwork was viewed at Covington businesses and City Hall from March 2 through March 31.
The City of Covington Arts Commission, consisting of a group of enthusiastic volunteers, works together to support local art and artists through programs and events in the City of Covington.
