On May 25, 2010, the Covington City Council passed a new ordinance (Ord. 04-10) allowing civil infractions to be issued for fireworks violations at a rate of $150.00 per infraction. The new ordinance also allows fire department personnel and the city's code enforcement officer to issue these infractions, in addition to police. The issuance of civil infractions does not preclude the associated criminal penalties.
