Notice of City Council Public Hearing on May 8


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Covington City Council will hold a public hearing to hear the Planning Commission’s recommendation on the proposed 2018 Annual Docket to include three proposed comprehensive plan amendments at its meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Covington City Hall, 16720 S.E. 271st Street, Covington, WA 98042.

The purpose of this public hearing is for the City Council to receive comments from the public, both written and oral, and consider the Planning Commission’s recommendation to place these proposed amendments on the 2018 Annual Comprehensive Plan Docket. Following the public hearing, the City Council will make a final decision on the 2018 Annual Docket. The placement of a proposed amendment on the annual comprehensive plan docket is not an approval of the proposed amendment(s).  It simple means that the City Council finds that the proposal warrants further consideration. All proposed comprehensive plan amendments must be considered concurrently on an annual timeline and a decision made by the City Council prior to December 31, each year (RCW 36.70a.130(2)(a)).

Amend the Comprehensive Plan’s Future Land Use Map (FLUM) for one parcel located on the NE corner of the intersection of SE 272nd Street & 156th Place SE from Urban Separator (US/R-1) to General Commercial(GC).  This would include expansion of the city’s Downtown District.

City-wide amendment


Technical amendments and minor updates to the comprehensive plan. Including but not limited to text and map updates to reflect changes to city boundary, updated Critical Area Aquifer Map, reclassification by PSRC to Larger City status, clarification that adopted by reference plans and manuals include the most recent version/ amendment of the document at the time of development application.
