June 4 Community Safety Update

Things were relatively quiet overnight in Covington. We are not aware of any planned gatherings or events today.

Yesterday, Mayor Wagner met with several community members including the organizer of the recent protests and the citizen group with goals of protecting local businesses. The conversations were very productive and Mayor Wagner has more meetings planned in the coming days.

We would like to remind the community that our police department has the resources they need and for the safety of the community, we would prefer our well-trained officers handle any safety issues. Calling 911 to report any disturbances is the best way to handle it and allow our officers to respond.

Any citizens can share comments or concerns during the public comment period at the next city council meeting on June 9. The meeting will be held virtually and telephonically via Zoom. The agenda and instructions for joining in can be found under the City Government section of this website.
